Need a better way to stay cool without running your air con all day? Ceiling fans are a smart, low-cost way to boost airflow and comfort in your home. At Brillare Electrical, we handle ceiling fan installation in Perth with speed, care, and full compliance.

Our fully licensed electricians have over 50 years of combined industry experience within the Brillare team, and we’re a proud NECA (National Electrical and Communications Association) member. Every installation is done right the first time, to Australian safety standards (AS/NZS 3000), backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty.

Why Install a Fan?

Ceiling fans move cool air through your home in summer and push warm air down in winter. That helps cut the use of heaters and air cons, saving you money through the year.

Fans also lower humidity, clear stale air, and bring a modern touch to any room — inside or out. And with quiet, power-saving DC motors now common, they’re a top upgrade for both new builds and older homes.

Benefits of Installing a Ceiling Fan

Ceiling fans are one of the smartest upgrades you can make to a Perth home. A practical, stylish, and cost-effective addition for year-round comfort.

Cut Energy Bills

DC ceiling fans use up to 70% less power than standard AC models and a fraction of what ducted or split-system air conditioning costs to run.

Year-Round Comfort

Most ceiling fans include a reverse function. Run the blades anticlockwise in summer for cooling, and clockwise in winter to push warm air back down

Improved Air Quality

Fans lower humidity, clear stale air, and improve airflow throughout a room — especially useful in Perth’s hot, dry summers.

Interior Design Upgrade

Modern designer ceiling fans are beautiful objects. From Scandi minimalism to Bali-inspired timber blades, today’s fans complement virtually any interior style.

Alfresco Living

Outdoor-rated and coastal ceiling fans extend your living space. Make your patio or alfresco area comfortable and functional through summer and beyond.

Low Running Cost

Even when running all day, a quality DC ceiling fan costs just cents per day to operate — making it one of the most cost-effective comfort solutions available.

All Types Installed by Trusted Ceiling Fan Electricians in Perth

DC Ceiling Fans

DC (Direct Current) ceiling fans are the modern standard for efficiency and performance. They use up to 70% less electricity than older AC models, run almost silently, and typically come with a 6-speed remote as standard. Most DC fans have a sleek, compact motor that suits low-profile and minimalist designs.

  • Up to 70% more efficient
  • Different speed settings
  • Remote included
  • Reverse function

AC Ceiling Fans

AC (Alternating Current) fans are the traditional option – reliable, lower upfront cost, and typically controlled via a wall switch. A great choice for rental properties, secondary bedrooms, or anywhere that doesn’t need variable speeds or smart controls.

  • Lower upfront cost
  • Wall switch control
  • 3 speed settings
  • Wide range of styles

Outdoor & Alfresco Ceiling Fans

Not all fans are rated for outdoor use. Outdoor ceiling fans are purpose-built with weather-resistant construction – some are IP55 or IP66 rated, others use ABS plastic or marine-grade stainless steel. Essential for alfresco areas, covered patios, and entertaining spaces.

  • IP-rated weather resistance
  • ABS or stainless steel
  • Alfresco & patio ready

Coastal Ceiling Fans

Homes near the coast face unique challenges – salt air causes corrosion, rust, and tea staining even on indoor fans. Coastal-rated ceiling fans are built from materials that resist salt air degradation, making them essential if you’re within a few kilometres of the ocean.

  • Salt air resistant
  • Marine-grade construction
  • Indoor & outdoor options

Ceiling Fans with Lights

A ceiling fan with light is a practical two-in-one solution – ideal for bedrooms and living areas where ceiling space is limited or where you want to simplify your lighting setup. Many models use energy-efficient LED globes, and some include integrated dimmable LED panels.

  • LED integrated options
  • Dimmable models
  • Remote controlled lighting

Low-Profile Ceiling Fans

Also called “hugger” fans, low-profile ceiling fans sit close to the ceiling with no downrod – perfect for rooms with ceilings under 2.4m. They provide good airflow in compact spaces without the clearance concerns of standard-profile fans.

  • Suits ceilings under 2.4m
  • No extension rod
  • Space-efficient

3-Blade, 4-Blade & 5-Blade Fans

Blade count is as much a style decision as a performance one. More blades don’t automatically mean better airflow – motor power, blade pitch, and fan size matter more. 3-blade fans suit modern and minimalist aesthetics; 4-blade and 5-blade fans are common for traditional and tropical looks.

  • 3 blade – modern
  • 4 blade – versatile
  • 5 blade – traditional / tropical

Smart & Remote Ceiling Fans

Smart fans can be controlled via app, voice assistant (Alexa / Google Home), or programmed on schedules. DC fans almost always include a remote as standard. Remote-controlled fans must be connected to an isolation switch – we take care of all of this as part of our install.

  • App control
  • Voice assistant compatible
  • RF remote
  • Schedules & timers

Our team installs all kinds of Ceiling Fans

  • Indoor or outdoor
  • Remote or smart fans
  • Low-profile or angled ceiling fans
  • Fans with built-in lights

Whether you’re adding a new fan or replacing an old fitting, we help you choose the right fit. We’ll guide you on size, blade count, and the best spot for strong airflow.

What’s Popular Right Now – Designer Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans are no longer an afterthought. In 2026-27, they’re a key interior design element. Here are the styles that are trending in Perth homes and what to look for.

Modern Natural / Timber

Teak blades, koa wood finishes, and natural timber tones are hugely popular right now – blending nature-focussed design with practical airflow. Look for fans like the Shoalhaven, Takeko, or Moto.

Modern Minimalist / Black

Matte black ceiling fans with clean lines and 3-blade profiles are a staple of contemporary Perth interiors. They work especially well in industrial, Scandi, and coastal modern homes.

Scandi / Nordic

White or light-toned fans with minimal ornamentation – think flat blades, simple canopies, and clean proportions. Models like the Nordic or Whitehaven suit this aesthetic perfectly.

Bali / Tropical

Bali-inspired ceiling fans feature wide, palm-leaf style blades, rattan-effect finishes, and warm tones. The Bali fan (132cm, 5-blade) is a standout option for alfresco or resort-style spaces.

Vintage / Industrial

Oil rubbed bronze, brushed chrome, and antique finishes bring character to period-style homes and converted spaces. These fans suit heritage Perth properties or those with exposed brick and timber ceilings.

Coastal / Relaxed

White fans with light blades, wide spans, and weather-rated construction are perfect for Perth’s coastal suburbs. Often paired with an integrated light kit for alfresco use.

What Is an Oil Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Fan?

Oil rubbed bronze (ORB) is a popular finish in ceiling fans and light fittings that has a distinctly “old world” character. It’s a purposely worn and distressed metal look – achieved by treating bronze-coloured metal to create a darkened, slightly mottled surface that catches light differently across its highs and lows. The result is a finish that feels warm, aged, and artisanal rather than polished and modern. It sits somewhere between antique brass and dark pewter in tone, and works beautifully in heritage homes, Hamptons-style interiors, and any space where you want warmth and texture.

You can buy fans with an oil rubbed bronze finish with Brillare Electrical, and we’ll take care of supply, delivery and installation in one easy, complete service.

Getting the Most From Your Fan

Which Way Should a Ceiling Fan Turn?

The direction your ceiling fan spins makes a real difference to how effective it is throughout the year. Here’s what you need to know for each season in Perth.

In the Summer

Anticlockwise (Counter-Clockwise)

In summer, set your ceiling fan to spin anticlockwise when viewed from below. This pushes air straight down, creating a wind-chill effect on your skin that makes the room feel several degrees cooler – without actually lowering the temperature. This is the most efficient way to stay comfortable without leaning on your air conditioner. On cooler summer evenings, a fan on its own is often all you need.

Image

In the Winter

Clockwise

In winter, reverse the direction to clockwise and run the fan on its lowest speed. Warm air naturally rises and pools near the ceiling. A clockwise rotation draws cool air up from floor level and gently redistributes the warm air back down along the walls – improving heat distribution and reducing your reliance on heaters.

Most ceiling fans have a small reverse switch on the motor housing, or it can be done via remote on DC fans.

Wiring and Safety for Ceiling Fans

With Brillare, safety comes first. Every ceiling fan installation includes:

  • Proper ceiling fan wiring that’s tucked away and shielded
  • Strong ceiling mounts and structural checks
  • Load tests to make sure your system can cope
  • Work that meets Australian safety rules (AS/NZS 3000)

If you’re removing old pendant lights or fans, we’ll handle the job cleanly. We also align new fan installs with your pendant lighting setup to keep your room layout seamless.

During the install, we’ll also check for faults — and if needed, carry out electrical fault finding to ensure everything runs safely.

Planning a larger renovation? Our ceiling fan installation can be paired with our electrical wiring and rewiring service or incorporated into a broader electrical renovation. We can also advise on outdoor lighting installation to complement your new alfresco fan.

Fan Features and Options

Remote Control Setup

Want a ceiling fan with a remote? We install models with built-in remotes or retrofit receivers into compatible units. This is ideal for bedrooms, rental homes, or spots without switch access.

If you prefer a wall switch, we’ll wire that in instead.

Energy-Efficient Ceiling Fans

DC ceiling fans use up to 70% less power than standard AC models. They run quietly, offer more speed settings, and cost less to run. When paired with LED lights and smart home controls, they’re a smart long-term choice.
